Mumbai-based educational news app for children KidzByte has raised ₹2 crores in seed funding from entrepreneur Pranaya Goyal, Managing Director of The Goyal Group which deals in Web Development, Dive – Bar, Eatery as well as a Prysmato Operational Intelligence.
Founded by Chetan D’ Souza and Swagat Salunke in 2018, the startup empowers children, teens, parents and educators by providing unbiased information, informative tools and independent voices to harness the power of both media and technology.
“It is a huge challenge for the news business to appeal to younger audiences, the report revealed. Kids would love to know what’s happening around the world, but adult news channels and sites can sometimes be intimidating, overwhelming or even boring for children,” said D’Souza.
The KidzByte app has crossed 20,000 downloads on the Google PlayStore. The app provides curated and bite-sized news to help children become well-informed citizens of tomorrow. The startup aims to develop a reading habit and improve the language skills of children.
The content is designed for children aged between 9 to 15 years old (grade 4 to grade 10) and covers current affairs and world events with an innovative and kid-friendly approach.
