Gurugram-based food technology startup Hoi Foods has raised around INR 3.6 crores in a pre-series A round of funding from crowdfunding platform 1Crowd and its community of investors. Several other investors including Mumbai-based Gemba Capital and Prime Holdings also participated in the funding round.
Hoi Foods will use the fund to expand its geographical presence in multiple locations and build an integrated food solution by enhancing its backend technology.
Founded by IIT Delhi alumnus Indrajeet Roy in 2017, the food tech firm helps budget hotels to provide premium quality food experience to its customers. Currently, the startup offers Indian, Continental and Chinese cuisines along with multiple ranges of beverages.
Hoi Foods also delivers food directly to its consumers via food delivery platforms like Zomato and Swiggy across selected locations in Delhi NCR. The startup has served more than 150 hotels in the NCR region and plans to expand to 100 cities in the next four to five months.
Last year in October, the startup raised an undisclosed amount of funding from Sandeep Kohli, former MD of Yum Restaurants along with participation from Alok Mittal, Founder and CEO of Indifi Technologies, Sandeep Singh and Sujatha V Kumar.
Prior to that in April 2017, Hoi Foods raised another round of undisclosed amount from Pawan Raj Kumar, co-founder of Supa Star Foods.
Startups like InnerChef, HolaChef, FreshMenu and Fasoos are some major players in the food tech scene. InnerChef has raised INR 13 crores from Mistletoe, a Japanese venture firm in October this year. Spoonshot has raised INR 2.7 crores from Farm to Fork in August this year.
