India’s largest marketplace for maid bureaus, BookMyBai has raised an undisclosed amount of capital in pre-Series A round of funding from Japan-based social venture fund ARUN Seed. Several others Japan-based angel investors and venture capital firms have also participated in the funding round.
BookMyBai plans to use the freshly raised funds to increase its market share and presence in the cities it currently operates in. The startup will also use the capital to expand to and launch operations in Delhi-NCR and Hyderabad.
Anupam Sinhal, Co-founder, BookMyBai.com, said, “We are also planning to launch a multi-lingual app for the workers through which the workers can look for a job in real-time.”
Satoko Kono, President, ARUN LLC, said, “They have been able to impact the lives of thousands of marginalised women who are now earning enough money to support families. We see this as an opportunity to be able to support a startup which is not only sustainable but also has a large social impact amongst the rural households.”

Earlier, the startup raised INR 1 crore from Hyderabad-based investment platform 50K Ventures in 2015. Founded by Anupam Sinhal and Vickash Chowdhury in 2015, the startup allows homeowners to book domestic helpers like maid, housekeeper, babysitter etc online. The startup currently operates in Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Ahmedabad.
With a database of 50,000 document verified maids, BookMyBai enables users to search and select for domestic help after reviewing their profile. Customers get the option to watch their recorded interviews.
Some of the major competitors in this market are startups such as MyDidi, MrRight, MyChores, Helper4u, among many others. The startups operating in this space helps the end users as well as the workers in the long run. A significant social impact is made by helping many workers to find jobs especially the women from the marginalised sector of societies.
