Mumbai-based online domestic help platform Bookmybai has raised an undisclosed amount of funds in its Pre-Series A round of funding from Villgro Innovations Foundation. The startup will use the freshly raised capital to enhance its technology capabilities and increase its supply pool to fill the demand and supply gap of workers across India.
Founded by Anupam Sinhal and Vickash Chowdhury, the startup operates an online platform that enables customers to hire domestic help across various categories like maid, babysitter, nanny, senior citizen care and cook. Bookmybai currently operates in Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Ahmedabad.
In December 2018, social investor Villgro announced a seed funding of over ₹3.5 crores to help society-focused startups. It launched iPitch, a national discovery program that shortlisted 12 out of 1,200 applicants. Bookmybai was one of them that raised ₹64 lakhs from Gray Matters Capital.
Anuja Master Bose, Practice Lead of Villgro Education and Employability, said, “Bookmybai has tremendous potential to create meaningful impact in a traditionally challenging sector.”
According to media reports, the startup also plans to leverage Villgro’s unique model of incubation combining high touch mentorship and access to networks to unlock large scale social impact projects. Earlier in October 2018, the startup raised an undisclosed amount of funds in Pre-Series A round from Japan-based social venture fund ARUN Seed.
