Dhoni becomes CEO

Do you remember “Nayak” movie starring Anil Kapoor? In the movie, he becomes the CM of Maharashtra for a day. I remember this because the movie is broadcasted every weekend on TV. 😛

Something similar happened on Monday. Not into politics but into business. Cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Gulf Oil India for a day.

The former Indian captain reached the company’s headquarters in Andheri, Mumbai, on Monday to assume his new role. Dhoni and Gulf Oil India was trying to fix the appointment for a very long time.

“As a CEO of the company for the day, Mahi has attended all the special meetings of the company. He will also take quite a few decisions, just like a real CEO,” Arun Pandey, who manages Dhoni’s commercial interests, told Sportstar.

“Mahi’s association with the company goes back a long way, and for a long time, he also wanted to understand how a corporate CEO works,” Pandey added.

The employees didn’t know about the appointment. The result was they were shocked when Ranchi-born sportsman entered the office premises and took the chair as the CEO.

MS Dhoni has been the brand ambassador of Gulf Oil India for a long time and their relationship is good since 2011. The 35-year-old, who led India to the 2011 World Cup triumph, is now gearing up for the 10th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) where he will be participating for Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS).
