The long end to high-speed affordable broadband service comes to an end. Jio GigaFiber registrations have been set life allowing customers to express their interest. The high-speed service will provide internet access with speeds beyond 1Gbps to both business and home users.
Let us tell you that it is important for users to make sure that Jio GigaFiber requests from their areas are sufficient enough to lay down the fibre cables. To make sure that fake demand is not created in certain areas, Mukesh Ambani led company has implemented OTP authentication during registration.
The plans for the broadband service has not been announced yet. However, experts estimate that Jio GigaFiber will provide users with a speed of 100Mbps, unlimited voice and video calling over VoIP and access to JioTV app.
Mukesh Ambani had announced last month that the services will be launched in 1,100 cities across the country, but there is no confirmed date yet for the full official rollout. The broadband service has been in the experimentation process for the past couple of years with download speeds of 700 Mbps.
How Jio GigaFiber broadband registrations work
- To register for Jio GigaFiber, go on the official Jio website’s GigaFiber page
- Here, enter your address by pressing the Change button. After you enter your address and hit the Submit button, the screen will still show the default address. Nonetheless, select whether the address you have entered is your home or work address.
- On the next page, enter your name and phone number, and hit the Generate OTP button
- Enter the OTP and select the type of locality (Society, Township, Developer, etc) and click on Submit
That’s it, you are done with Jio GigaFiber registrations and have expressed for interest in your area. You can also nominate other areas for the Jio broadband service, such as parents’ address, work address, etc. You do not need to pay any sum while registering.
Jio GigaFiber, GigaTV and Smart Home features
Jio GogaFiber will power the company’s GigaTV and Smart Home services. With wall-to-wall high-speed Wi-Fi coverage, users will be able to stream 4K videos and play VR games on the network. All you have to do is to install a GigaRouter at your home or office. It is not yet clear about the number of supported devices on the network.
The TV network will allow consumers to watch 600+ TV channels, stream thousands of movies and millions of songs and use apps such as JioCinema, JioTVCall, JioSmarLiving, JioNetVelocity, JioCLoud, MediaShare, and JioStore on a TV Screen.
The company will install a GigaTV set-top box and provide a voice-activated remote to users. The bundled remote will be able to take voice commands. The JioRemote app supports multiple Indian languages, though the exactly supported languages are not disclosed.
Users will also be able to make video calls on TVs powered by Jio GigaFiber — video calls will be supported on other TVs using a Jio network, along with mobile phones and tablets on any network.
The Jio broadband network will also be at the heart of its smart home suite, which includes accessories such as an audio dongle, video dongle, smart speaker, Wi-Fi extender, smart plug, outdoor security camera and TV camera, among others.
Users will be able to monitor and control their GigaFiber-connected homes using a smartphone, including the temperature, lighting, gas, and water leakages. The company claims it will take just an hour to set up the smart home.
