Ranchi-based cloud kitchen food chain RoboFood has raised an undisclosed amount of funds from Indian Overseas Bank. The startup plans to utilize the funds for capital expenditure, marketing, and expanding its existing team.
Founded in 2018 by Adid Khan and Amin Khan, RoboFood is a cloud kitchen startup that serves authentic Lebanese, Turkish, and Middle Eastern cuisines to its customer base. The stronghold of the food startup is Shawarma, a middle-eastern delicacy prepared on a rotary grill.
Commenting on the fundraise, Amin Khan, COO of RoboFood said,” We are thankful to Indian Overseas Bank for believing in us. The fundraiser will help us kickstart our kitchen and strengthen our technology backend. A part of the fund will be used for marketing on various channels”
Amin Khan has worked as an independent consultant for various companies like Rapido, Gionee, Samsung, Turtle, BMW, and several others. He has more than 10 years of experience in events management, operations management, and offline marketing. He currently heads the operations as COO at RoboFood
The startup plans to use automation in food preparations and be India’s first fully automated cloud kitchen startup. For that, the startup is investing heavily in its technology infrastructure and process automation.
The startup has partnered with ADIFA, a technology consulting firm in March this year to infuse technology into the cloud kitchen. The firm has worked closely with Wasim and implemented technology that has reduced the average order preparation time from 20 minutes to 5 minutes.
When asked about the future plans, co-founder and CEO Adid Khan says,” We have started in a small city. However, we are getting amazing responses till now. We plan to scale our radius of operations from 5 km to 20 km. We are working swiftly to launch our own delivery fleet and guarantee 30 minutes delivery to our customers.”
The startup aims to expand to cities like Dhanbad, Jamshedpur, Patna, Kolkata, Bhubhaneshwar, and Raipur in the next 2-3 years. Moreover, the startup aims to introduce robots into their cloud kitchens to prepare orders in the next 5 years.
RoboFood currently employees 17 people including kitchen staff, customer service staff, executives. The startup currently serves food to customers in Ranchi via online aggregators like Zomato and Swiggy.
