Bengaluru-based online course provider Career Anna has raised INR 4 crores in a pre-series A round of funding from a group of angel investors led by Subinder Khurana. The team plans to use the funds to launch learning programmes in vernacular languages including Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and Kannada. The firm will also use the funds to build user engagement tools on the platform.
Founded by Varun Saxena in 2014, the startup provides an online learning platform offering exam preparation and certification courses. The startup focuses on examinations like TISSNET, XAT, CAT, MAT and CMAT among many others and offers certification courses in domains like Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain and Data Science.
Career Anna claims to have more than 160 courses taught by around 100 active tutors and have helped more than 25,000 students through its tech platform. The startup is actively planning to launch courses for UPSC preparation in regional languages. The startup has also partnered with enterprises to launch a skill transformation academy.
Earlier in April this year, the startup raised INR 3 crores in angel investment from a group of angel investors. Several other edtech startups like Byju’s, Unacademy, Vedantu, Toppr and Simplilearn competes with Career Anna.
Vedantu raised INR 78 crores in series B round from Omidyar Network in November this year. Another edtech startup Genius Corner raised INR 2 crores in angel funding. Eupheus Learning also raised funds from Sixth Sense Ventures last month whereas GuruQ raised INR 2.5 crores in pre-series A round of funding.
