Mumbai-based communication technology startup CometChat has raised a seed funding of ₹84 lakhs ($120K) from US-based seed accelerator Techstars Boulder. The accelerator runs programmes to boost the growth of early-stage startups. CometChat became the first Indian startup to be selected for a 3-months Techstars Boulder programme.
Techstars will provide CometChat with mentors, financial & legal resources and infrastructure for a lifetime under the program. This includes networking access to 10,000 entrepreneurs, 2,700 investors and 1,200 alumni companies. At the end of the program, refined products will be showcased to the investors which would result in further funding and developments.

Based on a SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) model, CometChat comes with a desktop messenger for both Windows and Mac platforms which let users chat directly from the desktop. Users can log in with the same credentials as one in the mobile app or website and can chat from the desktop application.
