Earlier this year, we reported that CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) is soon going to include Artificial Intelligence as an elective subject. Now in the latest, the education board has approved the inclusion of Artificial Intelligence as an optional sixth subject for class 9 students from the upcoming academic session which starts in April 2019.

The CBSE circular says, “To enhance the multidisciplinary approach in teaching learning and also to sensitize the new generation, it was decided that School may start AI “Inspire module” of 12 hours at Class VIII itself.”

Apart from AI, CBSE has also introduced Early Childhood Care Education, and Yoga as new subjects. More subjects like Python will be-be introduced as optional skill subjects for students of classes 8, 9 and 10. Although, AI will be an optional subject for Class 9, but if any school wants, it can introduce the subject in class 8 as well.

Earlier in August last year, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) decided to include success stories of Indian entrepreneurs and startups like Flipkart, Pla, OYO and BigBasket in the curriculum to develop a job-creating culture among the students. This will ensure inspiration and motivation among the students.

CBSE also partnered with the Entrepreneurship Development Insititute of India (EDII) last year to bring together a group who can brainstorm to create an updated and effective educational module along with an extended teacher’s training program focused on entrepreneurship as a vocational course for Indian school students.
